I always thought playing a game of chess is not my cup of tea. I was so overwhelmed with this thought that I had never even attempted to know the rules of the game. I love to play games that lift my spirits, where I can let go off, just strain my brain the least but have maximum fun. Of course, there are many such games and they are indeed fun to play. But this led me to think of why one earth play skill games at all?
In a skill game, I realized that you don’t rely on luck. You think and analyze, you learn to have an internal dialogue with yourself, you learn to focus, you learn to weigh the pros and cons of every move and more importantly, you learn to take responsibility for your own decisions. None but you are responsible for your winning or losing.
When played as a team, it is a wonderful chance to display team effort, to work towards a common goal. The fact was that thanks to these games, I had even sharpened my concentration skills without making any conscious effort. So now I have stopped asking why play them, I only wonder why not!

Thanks to the advancement in science and technology, skill games today are becoming very popular amongst both young and old alike. These games, as the name says, test your skills. Hence, they keep your mind agile and alert at all times. No wonder then, that these games are gaining prominence by the day! Most people play games without realizing that are refreshing to their minds without realizing that they are skill games. There are games that are designed specifically for young children, ladies and men. There are games that can be universally played too. There are four major categories in these skill games. The four categories are arcade games, word games, puzzle games and trivia games. In addition to being quick at using your fingers, arcade games also propel you to think fast on your feet. Word games help improves one’s vocabulary thereby helping them gain more knowledge. Puzzle games tap into your logical abilities to enable you to solve various puzzles. And trivia games they test the knowledge of the person in a particular category. Each of these categories are very extensive and there are variety of games under each umbrella.
